摘要:This study investigates the effect of a surging increase in international remittances on
poverty in developing countries. For this purpose, we analyzed panel data for 66 developing
countries from1981 to 2005 using a quantile regression analysis. Our results suggested that
international remittances have an uneven effect across poverty quantiles for developing
countries. We found that the poverty alleviating effect of remittances was more pronounced
in the worst off group or those in the highest quantile (90thquantile) of poverty.
