摘要:The Ubatuba County represents the most well-preserved region of the entire Northern São Paulo coast, sheltering ecosystems with high index of oil sensitivity along 170 kilometers of coast line. It is represented by six small bays, composed of 76 beach segments, 118 rocky coast segments, 8 estuary segments and 4 artificial structure segments, in addition to mangrove fragments, tide plains, lagoons and ponds. Many of these ecosystems are found in areas protected by conservation units, with difficult access, and others are important tourism and leisure areas. The Ubatuba coast was divided into three sectors due to differences in physiography and occupation. The mapping evidenced by the environmental sensitivity of the Northern sector of the county, which shelters beaches, mangroves, tide plains and rocky coasts in areas which are difficult to access for containment and cleaning in case of spills. The other two sectors, the southern and central sectors, present high sensitivity associated with a higher occupation index, mainly in the portions corresponding to the central county. The “cartas SAO” presented in this study have a tactical character on a scale of 1:80,000 and represent an important source of detailed information of the region. They should be used in emergency and contingency plans and represent an important coastal management instrument for a region widely pressured by economical activities.
