摘要:This paper aims at understanding the processes of individualization and identification of the youth, taking as space-time reference the city of Brasília in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and as corpus lyrics of rock bands created therein. Our study goal is, then, the youth discourse where one may notice the way they weigh the world and themselves, while shaping themselves as individuals. Grounding on discourse analyses as a theoretical methodology, the notion of interpretation is fundamental, presupposing, therefore, that there is no meaning without interpretation, and that the aim of an analysis is to comprehend how the text produces meaning, to observe the moving of the intepretation inbedded in the symbolic material. We observe that the songs by these bands are presented as moving spaces of meaning, inter-identifyable, where incompleteness and indistinction play a role, but also the search for closure; where an authorship for Brazilian rock is constituted, in which the individual “searches for words”, affected by history, constituting, from this very history, a possible voice about and for the youth.
