    Jepperson (1991) suggests that the Neo-Institutional theory departs from the Classical Organizational Theory by emphasizing the macro context, while the micro-sociological dimension loses its centrality. In this article, I reconstruct the neo-institutional trajectory along the past two decades, with special emphasis on its effort in reincorporating the intra-organizational dimension. I attempt to show that the process of institutionalization of new practices is usually seen as a destabilizing element. In contrast, I suggest that the institutionalization of new practices might bring the stabilization of intra-organizational relations, in the extent that institutions provide legitimated configurations for intra-organizational coordination. The suggested approach permits the incorporation of the agentic dimension underlying the implementation of new practices, since it emphasizes the negotiation process that takes place among all parties involved, including external stakeholders. As a consequence, and in contrast to Jepperson, it is possible to reestablish the connection between the institutional theory and the micro sociological analytical dimension.
