ABSTRACT: In this paper we present the importance of an ethnomusicological view of Pomeranian music to the Pommerchor Band’s descendents that live in Domingos Martins’ district – Melgaço, Espírito Santo – Brazil. The music, here, is understood as a part of the famous weddings’ party ritual. It set musical and paramusical codes (beyond the music). In this way, the repetition of this band’s songs in Pomeranian traditional manifestations reinforces the identity among the descendent of this group; it standing out the felling relationships of this people reflecting on the musical chose as a reference.
