ABSTRACT: This text aims to discuss some theoretical aspects related to the problem of cinema-history, taking as specific object of study the trends of films about historical reconstitution made in Brazil from the 1970s. This kind of film will be addressed as an area of memory representation and cultural identity of a nation, and also as a representative from the different historical trends depicted on the subjects. Hence the constant conflict which it is subjected and the different interpretations that it raises. This discussion is dependent on my doctorate research, carried out with the Program of Post-Graduation in History of UFRGS, under orientation of PhD Professor Sandra Jatahy Pesavento, from the Cultural History ambit.
