摘要:This article aims to discuss the role performed by the apparitions of the Virgin in twentieth century Catholicism. Besides promoting a revival of the faith, these “apparitions” offers an apocalyptical discourse that criticizes the modern society and even the Catholic Church hierarchy. The conflicts about the rejection or acceptance of these accounts of apparitions reflect broader tensions within the catholic field. From these observations, this articles questions: 1) at which degree the power of contemporary media and the weakening of the Catholic Church control on the divulgation of these accounts would contribute to the increasing of such tensions as well to the proliferations of theses accounts?; 2) how does Catholic Church deal with the internal divergent tendencies and criticism to its institution and which are its methods of appropriations of these accounts?
