摘要:Increase in the production of agro-industrial products associated with territorial
expansion of agricultural frontiers, quite distant from larger consumer centers in the country
and export ports, as well, have promoted a great concern on how to transport and to deliver
those products at competitive prices to the consumers. This study aimed to provide analysis of
the transport logistic of Mato Grosso do Sul State, in the period from 1999 to 2003. A
literature search was carried out in those institutions which are concerned with transport in the
state (AGESUL, AGITRAMS, CODESUL, SEPROTUR, etc.), in order to get data on the
transport matrix situation for that period. It was found that the state transport matrix did not
progress in the last years, since the modal road is the most expensive of the modes present in the State and it concentrates the majority of the transport, accumulating 81% of total cargo.
The rail mode, which carried 10% of the cargo, was damage, requiring investment in
infrastructure. The water transportation, which has two main water ways, only transported 9%
of all cargo. Therefore, it was detected that transport network of Mato Gosso do Sul State is
inappropriate, penalizing the state productive system, worse than the matrix of national
transport, which had a cargo handling by 60%, 33% and 7% respectively by modal road, rail
and waterway.
