Ignacio Aureliano Machado Brito was one of the Brazilian paleontologists that contributed very much to the
paleontological knowledge of Brazil with his papers, books and teaching in the Brazilian universities. He
studied mainly microfossils and paleoinvertebrates, but also contributed to Ichnology, by describing two
ichnospecimens of Asteriacites from the Pimenteira Formation, Devonian of the Parnaíba Basin. The specimens
studied by Ignacio Brito were revised in this paper and identified as A. stelliforme.
