Several studies have been done on communication problems between parents and professionals, which show the nature of the pitfalls experienced, particularly the weight of prejudices and preconceived ideas about parents' knowledge and know-how. In this context, attitudes of mistrust fuel persistent feelings of uneasiness, which prove harmful to the quality of services offered to children and the search for adapted solutions. This article presents the results of exploratory research. Interviews and video feedback sessions were held with Québec City parents and caregivers during Individual Service Plan meetings. Data was analyzed according to the communication problem indicators identified during successive phases of data selection.
