摘要:The present article presents a literature review on delayed motherhood. It examines the theoretical andempirical aspects of pregnancy after 35 years, both from the medical and psychological perspective. Ingeneral, medicine considers this age as a cut-off point for including pregnant women within high-riskgroups, foreseeing a series of possible complications both for the baby and for the mother. However, itis known that other factors exist which are able to heighten or reduce the risk of a pregnancybeginning at this age. In the context of motherhood after 35, it is important that health professionals beguided by an approach that transcends the exclusive criterion of age, and consider the several factorsinvolved in a safe and calm pregnancy, such as the clinical and psychological conditions of thewoman, as well as the conditions for dealing with the emotional demands of pregnancy.
