The Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais para os Cursos de
Química (Brazil) indicate as necessary for the formation of the Chemistry
students the development of competences related to the searching of
information in Science, written communication and oral presentations.
However, in Brazil, it is practically inexistent the didactic material capable to
aid teachers in the reach of such objectives. To decrease this problem, it
was accomplished a research for the elaboration and validation of some
didactic material about scientific communication. The methodology used for
elaboration of the material was based on the foundations of the
participatory research. The objectives, contents and organization forms of
the material were planned during group meetings with undergraduate
students, graduate students and a teacher of the area of Chemistry. It was
elaborated the material Communication and Scientific Language: Guide for
Students of Chemistry, of which main characteristics are described in this
work. It is also pointed out how the participatory research was reflected in
the elaboration of some parts of the material. The stage of validation of the
material is described and it was accomplished by the analysis of the
material by new students and teachers of the area of Chemistry.
