摘要:The comparison among diverse populations of estuaries of Chile central
southern coastline concerning their cultural and natural heritage, and based on the
notion that they may be the stewards of their environment with the historical right to
manage it, we endeavor to: (i) To define the notion of heritage (patrimony) in relation
to its presence in people’s everyday life, avoiding generalizations about heritage; (ii)
To characterize the alternatives locally available for managing the local heritage, and
(iii) To identify the conditions under which patrimonialization becomes feasible. We
conclude suggesting that public policies recognize local communities as legitimate
managers of the local heritage.
