摘要:Nowadays, it is noticeable the importance of tourism as an economic activity to
the development of a place. However, to succeed in this area, many elements must
be considered, as infrastructure investments in transportation, hotels,
restaurants, events, and the organization of touristy information. The touristy
information becomes very important, and it can be worked in two different forms:
tourism planning, providing subsidies for the touristy development of a place,
and tourist’s guidance and orientation, when he is visiting a touristy center.
Then, the geographic space, which has touristy interest, its structure,
functionality and dynamics must be displayed through cartographic documents that
have the purpose of helping tourism planners and the tourist to make
decisions. The tourist cartography, displayed on graphics form to represent
the geographic touristy information, has a vital role, once it becomes
responsible for the making of cartographic documents that will work as a base to
the development of touristy activity, and will also provide tourists a general
view of the geographic space which has touristy interest, using information that
can be important to help tourists planning their activities of visiting and
coordinating their available time. In order to do that, the coordination of all
information in different hierarchies, with a global view of the area, which
allows the user to locate him at space and time simply and directly, is a
feature that must follow all touristy cartographic information. On the other
hand, the concepts of cartographic, geometric, projective and cognitive (scale,
map projections, generalization and symbolization) transformations must be
adapted to be used in different ways, such as: paper maps, digital maps and web.
Scale knowledge, for example, is essential to give tourists an idea of their
movement among different centers. However, the generalization, sometimes very
strict in touristy maps, cannot display information that would be vital to help
the tourist locating himself when he consults a map. This work aims to
discuss some cartography and tourism concepts, applied to tourist cartography
conceptions. At first, it is displayed a series of ways to work with touristy
mapping. Then cartographic concepts are discussed, in order to connect them to
each tourist necessity.
