Considering the importance of strategy assessment in upper education, this study aims at describing the findings from a training period in Occupational Guidance, in a Psychology Course at a Brazilian State University. This experience statement will be presented in three parts. The first describes the subject matters. The second describes the training period in Occupational Guidance, that is, the intervention methods and the role of the trainee in Psychology. The third part shows the students' view on their training period. The results pointed out the relevance of learning from the training period in relation to: (1) group attendance based on the Pichon- Rivière approach; (2) interviewing and assessment of patients; and (3) application and analysis of Achtnich Test of Photos of Occupations (BBT- Berufsbilder Test). The conclusion shows that strategies to cope with the new challenges posed for education of psychologists/occupational counselors are relevant.
