Introduction: Since the last decades obesity has been confirmed as a serious public health problem. Between the ethyologic factors, psychologic aspects are receiving a growning attention, what cares a major increment of the personality investigation procedures. Aim: With the intention to determine the psychological characteristics, a group of ten morbidy obese adults were submitted to a battery of psychological assessment instruments. Material and methods: The group was investigated in two different moments, before and after a multidisciplinary psychological intervention. The present study focus on the material from the Human Figure Drawing (HFD) applied immediately before the beginning of the intervention. The graphic productions collected were initially evaluated in terms of formal, general and content points, using a systematized protocol and posteriorly figured out with the criteria of psychological meaning aspects offered by the specialised scientific literature. Discussion: In general lines, the evaluated drawings suggested that the patients studied have impulse contention difficulties, with a tendency to be imature, passive, dependent and insecure. They take from fantasy atmosphere the satisfactions that they can't find on their reality and have a corporal image composed by feelings of inadequacy, inferiority, sadness, low self esteem and shy. Conclusion: These findings offered guidelines to the psychological intervention, pointing out the need to improve self-consciousness about the emotional problems lived by the patients.
