摘要:The Fluminense Territory is marked by an intense process of urbanization that has led to
serious social and spatial transformations. From these transformations it is important to
remember the activities associated with rural tourism, with the proliferation of the so-called
hot¨|i-fazendas, spas, resting hotels, low-income housing and the continued existence and
even the spread of family production. The proliferation of these activities has allowed the
insertion of family producers into non-agricultural activities and consequently the growth of the
average family income. But this process occurs in the areas within this axis of urbanization
next to the RMRJ. In the more remote areas, family producers continue to depend on
agricultural income and to face numerous problems to carry out their activities. Finally, the
main goal of this essay is to present some characteristics of the approaches to family
production and survival strategies, either from agricultural or non-agricultural enterprises and
the role that rural tourism has been playing in this process. Our reflections are focused on the
fluminense territory, and our research concerns the recent transformation of its rural space.
