摘要:High-precision mass measurements as performed at the Penning trap mass spectrometer
ISOLTRAP at ISOLDE/CERN are an important contribution to the investigation of nuclear astrophysics
processes. Accurate nuclear masses with 0.1 ppm relative mass uncertainty are required
for tests of models which are used to predict mass values of nuclides far from the valley of stability.
Especially for the determination of the nucleosynthesis pathways, e.g. the rp-process or
the r-process, a large number of nuclear masses need to be precisely and accurately known. In
addition to a radioactive ion beam facility that delivers a large variety of short-lived nuclides with
sufficient yield, a sophisticated experimental setup for precise mass measurements is required.
An overview of the results from the mass spectrometer ISOLTRAP is given and the limits and
possibilities are described.
