摘要：This article brings research results about the voices that are present in the news of Jornal Nacional, from Rede Globo de Televisão – Brazil's most viewed newscast. From the content analysis of 232 journalistic pieces displayed on two stratified broadcast weeks in the second semester of 2004, actors from the pieces were described, as well as the institutions they represent, the types of speeches made, and the themes about which they express themselves. It has been concluded that there is, on the newscast, a strong polarization of voices in two groups. On one of the extremes, people from the government, the State and public institutions – in general, men that offer raw data and explanations about serious issues. On the other, common citizens, more homogeneously distributed by sex, showed as illustrative elements: even not offering relevant information for the construction of news, they are strongly present in them.
