摘要:Particularly in the case of chronic wounds, microbiological testing places special demands on the cooperation between the examiner and the microbiological laboratory. Faulty findings arise chiefly in flawed pre-analyses and unsuitable sampling technique. For routine testing (of chronic wounds), a wound smear taken under slight pressure across the area of the wound suspected of being infected is the method of choice for most wounds. The smears are taken from a defined area, for instance, 1 cm x 1 cm, so that any pathogens found can be given semi quantitatively in KbE/cm2. During the pre-analytical phase, it is imperative to avoid long storage periods and long transport distances. The samples should reach the laboratory within 1 hr and be microbiologically processed immediately. Immediately after sample taking every swab must be put into a suited transport medium.
