摘要:Being foreign bodies, drainages represent a risk factor for postoperative wound infections. If they are not closed and cannot be completely aseptically inserted, the risk of infection increases. In a clinical analysis of postoperative wound infections after orthopedic/traumatologic and soft-tissue surgery, the proportion of drainage-related infections was 31%.
For this reason, drainages should not be used routinely, but only when clearly indicated. They should be left in place as briefly as possible and performed with closed suction systems. For wound healing, systems regulated via negative pressure are superior to high-vacuum systems.
The technology of the Draintec® system sets a new quality standard. The specially developed, re-usable trochar makes completely aseptic placement of the system possible for the first time. The optimal output of the drainage is regulated via microprocessor control.
