摘要:The main purpose of this paper is to make a description of the identity phenomenon, linking its social and individual dimensions. We stablish a dialogue with different areas of study in order to uncover the conceptions of identity, such as: self, identification, relation, and social construction. In the empirical research we carried out a field study in ecological farmer´s organizations in two regions of Rio Grande do Sul. We use the phenomenological approach to analyse the data collected. The interpretation of them revealed that members identification with the group identity is the main factor of group´s continuity. However, some social identities can be overlapped. The organizational identity can only be understood by individual as a social construction, although organizations can lead individuals to a new interpretation of its individual identity.
