  • 摘要:Individual longitudinal data becomes of outstanding importance to depict youngsters’ scholar trajectories. Nevertheless, this kind of data is not regularly obtained by the Portuguese statistical system as yet; therefore, research based on life cycle theories, as well as some other dynamic approaches of the scholar itineraries, is still quite rare in the country. But we are fully aware of the dynamic cumulative impart most school trajectories’ determinants do exert, their cumulative and multiple influence becoming specially evident at the most critical moments – the transition between education levels. In this paper we intended to identify the possible “school effect” behind most trajectories’ and inner transitions’ determinants; and consider its eventual influence both under the form of mobility between school establishments and the one of the specific establishment in which upper secondary education certificate would have been obtained, for each pupil. For those purposes we worked with data for 530 upper secondary graduates who had previously attended six Metropolitan Lisbon’s secondary schools and which had previously been obtained throughout two individual longitudinal surveys addressed in the framework of two recent research projects which we have been responsible for. After the statistical analyses, we were able to state that, actually and among other relevant factors, the “school effect” seemed to be rather meaningful for these case studies’ trajectories.
