Patinkin not on 'Rockford'

David Inman The (Louisville, Ky.) Courier-Journal

Question: Is the actor who does the Crestor commercials the same person who played Angel on "The Rockford Files" with James Garner?

Answer: Nope. It's Mandy Patinkin, of the new series "Criminal Minds."

Question: There was a movie in the 1980s about a blind singer. It was based on a true story, but I can't remember the title. Can you help? Is it on video?

Answer: That's the 1982 movie "If You Could See What I Hear," based on the life of Tom Sullivan. Marc Singer played Sullivan, and the cast also included Shari Belafonte. It's not yet on video.

Question: Back in the late 1960s, I watched a version of "Cinderella" on TV with real people instead of animated characters. Is this on video? Who played Cinderella?

Answer: Sounds like you saw the 1965 version of "Cinderella" with Stuart Damon, Ginger Rogers and Lesley Ann Warren in the title role. It's on video and DVD.

Question: I am a big fan of "General Hospital," and my favorite two people on the show are Jason and Sam (Steve Burton and Kelly Monaco). My question is about the song that plays during tender moments between Jason and Sam. Unfortunately, I cannot remember any of the words. Can you please tell me the name of the song?

Answer: The song is "Just You and Me" by Bobby Harty and Rie Sinclair. It's not yet available for sale.

Question: On the episode of "Days of Our Lives" that aired Sept. 15, Jack danced the "father and daughter" dance with Abby, knowing he would be dead by the time she actually marries. Can you tell me the name of the song they danced to and who performs it?

Answer: The song is "Daddy's Little Girl," and it's performed on the CD "Yours, Mine and Ours" by a fellow named Steve Kirwan.

Question: What has happened to "American Dreams," which aired on Sunday nights? It was a really good family show. What is the actress who played Meg doing now?

Answer: "American Dreams" was canceled by NBC. But weep not for Brittany Snow, who played Meg. She is currently at work on "John Turner Must Die," a big-screen romantic comedy that also stars Jesse Metcalfe of "Desperate Housewives" and Ashanti.

Question: On the Nov. 8 episode of "House," there was a scene with the some kids drinking at a party. What music played in the background?

Answer: That episode features the mellow musical sounds of Korn. The song is "Word Up!" from their CD "Greatest Hits, Vol. 1."

Question: If you can answer this one, I will be totally amazed. Back in the mid-1970s I saw a TV movie about a haunted area like the Bermuda Triangle. The movie's story line was that the devil would get aboard ships and take over the body of one of the passengers. After causing his mayhem, he would act as the lone survivor and board the rescuing ship and do his thing all over again. When I was a teenager, this movie scared the heck out of me and caused many sleepless nights. I'd love to be able to see this movie again. Can you help?

Answer: Count on me to help you relive childhood trauma. That's a TV movie called "Satan's Triangle." It starred Doug McClure and Kim Novak and, in a bit of good news for therapists everywhere, it's on DVD.

Question: There's a cast member on "The King of Queens" who looks and sounds like the guy who played the father on "The Addams Family." Is this guy his son?

Answer: John Astin, who played Gomez Addams, had two sons with actress Patty Duke, Sean and Mackenzie Astin. Neither has been on "The King of Queens."
