Uintah 10-0 at Ironman
Jamie DayFILLMORE -- The Uintah Utes finished 10-0 in capturing the Ironman Wrestling Championship. The host Millard Eagles went 9-1 to finish second in the dual-meet tournament, followed by Pleasant Grove, 8-2; North Sanpete, 7-3; and Delta, 6-4.
Twelve teams competed in the annual tournament Friday and Saturday at Millard High School.
"Our team should do really well this year," Uintah coach Greg Stensgaurd said. "We have a good returning team, and the younger boys are doing great."
Twelve wrestlers finished with 10-0 records. Uintah had five: Levi Mele, Cade Christensen, Czyz Woody, Wayne Duncan and Trevor Collett. North Sanpete had three: Kaden King, Tyler Christensen and Jake Swensen.
Other undefeated wrestlers were Pleasant Grove's Mickey Ottonelli, Payson's Kelly Kelsey, Delta's Joey Nielson and South Summit's Robert Dugdale.
"They have a lot of work to do, but we do have some good wrestlers this year," said North Sanpete coach Blake Turner.
