Close, but no cigar - The Fans Speak Out
Jose MendiolaIn your "Kickoff" in the March 2003 issue ["Rushing Into Oblivion"], you wrote that Corey Dillon joined Barry Sanders, Eric Dickerson, and Curtis Martin as the only players to rush for 1,000 yards in each of their first six seasons. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Tony Dorsett also accomplish that feat? Please print Dorsett's career statistics.
Jose Mendiola Houston
Dorsett rushed for 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons, not six. The work stoppage in the 1982 season limited Dorsett to just nine games and prevented him from rushing for 1,000 yards for a sixth straight time. He actually led the league in rushing attempts in that '82 season with 177. Here are his career statistics, Jose.
