Mary GarrisonThere are many "unsung" heroes in the field of parks and recreation. So that life can be lived to the fullest -- volunteers, professionals, elected or appointed officials, and other groups "live what they believe in" -- by giving citizens the opportunity to live a well-rounded life. Because of September 11th, there are more challenges that exist today and recognition of these people is more important than ever.
This year at the National Recreation and Park Association Congress in October 2002, the Citizen-Board Member Branch will present to exemplary citizens, organizations, communities, professionals, and board members a special recognition -- thanking each for outstanding contributions to the people in their communities.
We all know outstanding people who go above and beyond for our well-being. It is necessary that we take action and recognize these excellent people! It will certainly take effort to present "our deserving candidate" for recognition -- but it is time well spent.
I encourage each of you to make a commitment to recognize those who mean so much to the recreation endeavor in your very own community. Information for these special awards will be delivered to you in May and the application needs to be submitted to the Citizen-Board Member Branch by July 1, 2002.
For further information contact: Citizen-Board Member Director, Karen Miller at 703-858-2187 or e-mail her at [email protected].
Nominate your candidates now!
