THE PARTY'S OVER; Court's music ban on pounds 1.3m lottery winner

JANE YOUNG

LOTTERY millionaire Robbie Woods has finally been silenced...after a six-month jacuzzi party.

Former car mechanic Robbie, 27, has been served with a High Court injunction banning him from "causing noise nuisance to his neighbours" for the next six months. If he ignores it he could be jailed. Last night Robbie said: "Basically it means I can't even switch on the stereo."

Environmental health officers had visited his five-bedroom home six times in recent months following complaints from neighbours.

The injunction was served after he boasted to council officials that he was so rich he could easily pay any fine.

Robbie paid pounds 145,000 for the house in Tilehurst, Berks, after scooping pounds 1.3million three years ago. It is now worth pounds 250,000

He also bought a pounds 50,000 Porsche, complete with personalised number plates, and a share in a nightclub.

Neighbours say the trouble began when he installed the jacuzzi inside a pavilion in his back garden.

One, who declined to be named, said: "He was quiet as a mouse until he had the garden revamped this summer.

"I could see something was going to happen when the jacuzzi was put in. That sort of thing always attracts the noisy element.

"During the hot weather it was absolute hell. There was shouting, loud music and people cavorting in the garden until 5am. The music was so loud we could hear the constant thump-thump, even with our windows closed."

Last night Robbie insisted his parties were low-key affairs after he finished work at his club, Oscar's Buzz Bar in Reading. "I've had a few parties, of course, but they weren't half as bad as they've been making out," he said.

"I work at the bar till 2am at the weekends and when I get home I'm still wide awake and need to unwind. I invite a couple of staff home for a drink as I've got a bar in the house. It's just my way of saying thanks."

Robbie added: "Since I won the lottery I've had nothing but jealousy. The people who live behind me say I'm making them ill. But I don't see why I should move.

"They've all worked all their lives for their homes and I don't think they like me for turning up out of the blue and buying the place."

Robbie said that the only plus side to winning the lottery was that he has a lot of money in the bank. "It's only my mates, and my mum and dad, who have helped me keep my feet on the ground. Without them I think I would have gone potty.

"I do enjoy a high-life style and I'm not frightened of spending money. I like to enjoy myself. I buy designer clothes basically because I've got expensive tastes. But I always did have. The only difference is that I can now afford them."

West Berkshire Council's principal environmental health officer, Sue Gore, said: "We don't seek High Court injunctions lightly. However, Mr Woods told officers he could pay any fine they imposed and did not see why he could not go on having parties.

"We were left with no other course of action."
