Record day for Mario

RADIO comic Mario Rosenstock has gone double platinum with his new Gift Grub CD - selling a record 30,000 copies.

The mimic, who is featured on Today FM's Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show, has topped the Irish album charts for two weeks in a row.

And sales of his Gift Grub release, The Special One, are outselling Madonna and Westlife.

Among the celebrities singled out are money guru Eddie Hobbs and a Cork-sounding RTE radio correspondent called Plastic Sheeting.

The selections are the best of Mario's performances on the Dempsey show during the year.

Mario said: "I just can't believe that people are buying this over releases by superstars Westlife and Madonna.

"It's completely mind-boggling. I can't really take it in at all."
