Doing it for the money
Keith WalkerI just read Jim David's Last Word column, "Guys Like Fred" [May 25], and I was, quite frankly, unmoved. "Fred" is not a victim of homophobia but of his own greed. He hasn't come out to his parents because of a rather large inheritance. How sad. Fred is living a lie. He is lying to his parents, family, friends, and church, all because he hopes to someday inherit a bundle. His sordid and shameful trysts with strangers in the woods behind a smelly roadside rest stop put his own health at risk. Moreover, has Fred taken the time to consider how his parents will react when a cop catches him gagging while on his knees in front of some horny trucker? A real man would have said "To hell with the money" rather than degrade himself with strangers behind a public outhouse. An honest man would have packed his bags, hopped in his truck, and hauled tail out of that place a long time ago.
