As pointed out in the May issue of BoatU.S. Magazine, there's no longer a need for a VHF license. Add single sideband, however, and the charge for a license is over $200. It is noted that a license is required in a foreign port but with so much automation, why is the charge over $200? It seems that it's time for a change.
