Michael StevensI take exception to the statement in the article "Boaters Beware" by Dick Thompson, spuriously linking Greenpeace with terrorism. Greenpeace policy and practice hold all life sacrosanct.
Greenpeace always alerts the authorities to any demonstrations in advance, and strives to make statements for preservation of life and the environment. This is completely opposite to terrorist goals of spreading fear and dissension. Using an inflatable to obstruct whalers, blocking dumping of radioactive wastes or protecting baby seals is not terrorism.
I believe the best way to combat terrorism is by an enlightened foreign policy not by creating a paranoid police state. We must reach out the hand of friendship, peace, and assistance and lead by example, not exploitation, threats, and oppression.
