Docscall for Jamie medicine
LUCY JAMESDOCTORS want chef Jamie Oliver to turn his attention to hospital food following his success with school meals.
The British Medical Association fears nutrition for patients is inadequate.
Dr Eleanor Draeger told the junior doctors' annual conference yesterday: "All the drugs in the world will not help patients if they are not eating properly."
The Government pledged an extra pounds 280million to improve school meals in March after Jamie's campaign.
TV gourmet Loyd Grossman has already attempted a makeover of hospital food to improve choice for patients.
But Dr Draeger, 30, said that in most hospitals the quality of food should come before improving the variety available.
Junior doctor Andrew Thomson told the conference medical staff also deserved better meals as they were often left without proper catering facilities overnight.
