Football: Vid's bid for glory
PAUL BROWNMARK Viduka will revisit the scene of his worst football nightmare when Australia bid to end their 32-year drought and qualify for the World Cup next month.
Four years ago, Viduka almost quit international football after the Socceroos missed out on the 2002 finals by losing a play-off against Uruguay in Montevideo.
But he returns there on November 12 after Uruguay set up a clash with the Aussies by finishing fifth in their qualifying group.
And the Middlesbrough striker, 30, knows this is his last chance to fulfil a boyhood dream.
He said: "My dream ever since I was a little boy was to play for my country at the World Cup. There will be no thoughts of revenge because that is motivation enough."
