Rapist is jailed for 150 years
MATTHEW COOPERA BRITISH serial rapist who attacked two women in the US and raped five in the UK has been jailed for 150 years by an American court.
Paul Edward Capener, born in Solihull, was told he would serve at least 35 years before he is eligible for parole - and the judge said he is so dangerous he may never be freed.
Capener, 42, was the prime suspect for five rapes in the Midlands from 1988 to 1992, but he left Britain and the trail went cold until he was convicted in the US of stalking and sexually abusing women.
When an officer found his fingerprints matched a suspect with another name, she contacted British police and it emerged Capener had used the aliases Robert Groves and Paul Singer on both sides of the Atlantic.
British detective Andy Holmes said: "These crimes were particularly horrific as his victims were mostly attacked in their own homes."
