Chemistry, class

N. Rossi

Dear Interview,

I haven't seen Wedding Crashers yet (I got shut out at my local theater this weekend), but if the chemistry between Rachel McAdams [July 2005] and Owen Wilson in the film is half as good as it is in their interview, then I'm sure it will be a fun summer flick. Thanks a lot for the interview with this actress I have loved in a bunch of different movies--Mean Girls, The Notebook--without ever catching on that she was one and the same. Duh.

Dear Interview,

I thoroughly enjoyed your interview and spread on Rachel McAdams, a young actress who has already distinguished herself from the pack thanks to her artistic choices and the dignity in which she handles herself with the press. I was, however, disappointed that you did not mention her first movie, The Hot Chick (2002), as I was one of that movie's casting directors. We saw Rachel on a tape sent from Toronto and then met her in L.A., where we immediately screen-tested her for the lead role. We knew she was "the real thing" from the moment she first read in our office. She showed an impressive comic range, especially for someone with very little prior screen experience, and she displayed an unusual bravery in the bold choices she made for the role--that of a man (played by Rob Schneider) trapped in a woman's body. To set the record straight: Rachel first displayed her great instincts and talent to U.S. audiences in this early work.
