Papal indignities

Your columnists need to read over what they mite to make sure blind emotion doesn't affect their ability to put together something of quality. Kate Clinton's column "Let's Hear It for the Boys," [Don't Get Me Started, September 28] is vile and hateful and disrespects a deeply holy and decent man who has done more for the poor and sick worldwide than we could ever hope to. John Paul II was also the first pope to say gays were not inherently sinful and did not choose to be gay. Did he go far enough? No. But that doesn't justify bate.
