Dining around Kuchl - Travelers' Intercom - Austrai - Brief Article
George MillerWe found two wonderful restaurants in Kuchl, Austria, in September/October '02.
Located in the center of Kuchl is the Gasthof Muhlthaler, MarketstraBe 12--excellent local food at reasonable prices, and the waitress spoke excellent English. Dinner of cordon bleu and wienerschnitzel with salad bar. and a half carafe of local red wine cost [euro]22 for two.
The Gasthof Jadorferwirth is located in the tiny village of Jadorf, a very pleasant 15- to 20-minute walk from Kuchi or just a few minutes by auto. This Gasthof is very popular with the locals. It's open for lunch and dinner but closed in the mid-afternoon. It is also closed Monday and Tuesday.
We ate here several times and were always very happy with the food. For our final dinner in the area, I had a salad followed by Schweinbraten, potato dumpling, sauerkraut and vegetables. My wife had salad and Gulasch with all the trimmings. Including a half carafe of wine, the total cost was [euro]21.
Both places are highly recommended.
