DR DEATH TO WAIT YEAR FOR BURIAL

THE body of Dr Death Harold Shipman could be in cold storage for at least a year.

His widow Primrose is prepared to wait that long to allow interest in her husband, who murdered at least 215 of his patients, to wane.

The decision was taken after talks with the mortuary where Shipman's body has been held since his suicide aged 57 in Wakefield jail a month ago.

Mrs Shipman, 54, has also been in talks with the Church of England about getting her husband buried in an unmarked grave. It is understood one priest has agreed to "say a few words" over his coffin during any ceremony.

A cremation certificate was granted after an application by a relative, but Mrs Shipman has told friends she wants to be able to visit her husband's grave.

A source said: "Primrose insists she wants him buried. She believes if she waits, the interest will have gone away."

A spokesman for the Medico Legal Centre in Sheffield, where Shipman's corpse is held, said: "We have had discussions with the family and we have agreed no information will be released."
