Track walk man killed by passing train
PAUL HUNTERA YOUNG man killed by a train as he walked along a railway track was yesterday named by police.
David McLaughlin, 22, and a friend were both struck by the passing passenger train.
Mr McLaughlin of Baillieston, Glasgow, was killed instantly.
His friend - who has not been named - was seriously injured in the accident near Bargeddie station, Glasgow, on Friday.
He was taken by ambulance, under police escort, to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. Staff at the hospital described his condition as "serious but stable".
None of the train crew or passengers was injured. Police and rail chiefs are investigating the accident.
A police spokesman said a report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
