Kidnap April's so happy to be rescued
PAUL HUNTERJUNGLE rescue girl Eiman April Grant last night spoke of her relief at being freed afer 23 days in captivity.
She was rescued by soldiers and police after a 15 minute gun battle on the Phillipine island of Basilan and flown to a nearby military camp - where she was reunited with her Filipino mother, Mina Rasul Grant, whose husband Douglas Grant, 50, is from Inverness.
April said she was treated well during her 23 days in captivity despite losing weight.
When asked what she would like to have for breakfast she replied: "I want to have some cereal now.
"I feel fine but a little tired. I am happy."
The doctor who examined her said she was "fine except for mosquito bites".
