Comic relief
Deborah AndersonRAPIDE brothers Izzo and Malteser were caught in the act during a civic reception at Glasgow's City Chambers yesterday as part of the 17th annual Convention of the World Clowning Association.
The duo were among 200 clowns parading through the city's streets to George Square in full costume and make-up.
The association has a membership of more than 3000 from 20 countries. Arlene Feen, president of the WCA, said: "We have had a wonderful welcome from the people here in Glasgow. We would love to come back". From university professors to retired teachers, members have the chance to be completely whacky during the event. Chairman of Caledonian Clowns Peter McGreskin, from Whitburn, in West Lothian, said: "I think most of us just want to be children forever. We get to go to parties for a living, but most importantly put a smile on kids faces." Photograph: Christopher Furlong
