FOOTBALL: ROBBIE HELPS OUT THE OPPOSITION; SHAMROCK ROVERS1 GLENAVON
COLIN McLEANSHAMROCK second-choice keeper Robbie Horgan made a surprise appearance - for the opposition!
Glenavon borrowed him because the Lurgan Blues' highly-rated young stopper Stuart Addis was forced to make a late withdrawal after suffering a pre-match hamstring pull.
"Although Stuart missed the game, it was only a precautionary step," said Glenavon manager Colin Malone. "He felt his hamstring tighten up during the warm-up and decided not to take any risks. I am confident that he will be fit for next month's UEFA Cup tie against Kilmarnock."
On the pitch the South Dublin men went behind to a Marc McCann goal and were lucky not to suffer further.
It took a late equaliser from Rovers' substitute Pat Deans to deny the Lurgan Blues a victory which their performance deserved.
Glenavon's preparations for the new season continue with friendlies next week away to Killyleagh YC and Monaghan United.
