Motor cycling: Hislop plots quick return
JOHN DAVIESSTEVE Hislop has set his sights on capturing the British Superbike Championship next season just six weeks after an horrific crash which left him in hospital.
The Isle of Man-based Scot had barely recovered before he was already plotting a way to take the title back off rival John Reynolds.
Hislop has only recently been allowed out of hospital by doctors following the crash at Rockingham in Northamptonshire.
But he has no thoughts of letting the incident put him off. Hislop has confounded doctors with his speedy recovery and has already committed to the MonsterMob Ducati team again next season - a partnership that took him to top spot before the crash.
He said: "I'm very happy with the movement I've got as the doctors said it would be some time coming back.
"I want to get fit and do some training. I will get on a bicycle and maybe even my motocross bike - nothing too strenuous though."
Hislop broke his leg and collarbone and dislocated his ankle in the crash in September and suffered tendon damage because a compound fracture of his fibula left the bone sticking out of his leg.
But the most painful part of the accident was that his hopes of winning the British title were also shattered, allowing Nottingham's Reynolds to take the crown for the Red Bull Ducati team.
