Camp Delta claims 'unfair'

ALISTAIR BYRNE

THE LAWYER for a British Guantanamo Bay detainee today hit out at American claims that he wanted to be a suicide bomber, calling the allegations "grossly and ludicrously unfair".

Faroz Abbasi has appeared in front of three senior US officers where he was accused of being an al Qaeda terrorist and meeting Osama bin Laden at a training camp.

The claims were the first to be made against the 24-year-old from Croydon since he was captured in Afganistan almost three years ago and detained at Camp Delta in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

His London-based solicitor Louise Christian attacked the tribunal proceedings. "I have been trying to persuade the British Government to do something for its citizens. The whole process was grossly and ludicrously unfair," she said.
