Experts
Tim PerkinsI couldn't agree more with Clint Smith in the February issue on "Experts and Bullets." Some of the so-called experts in many of the different gun magazines are just plain laughable. The ones who swear up and down by this or that caliber and this or that gun. In my experience the caliber is not nearly as important as just being proficient with your chosen gun. Practice, not caliber, is the most important consideration. I own, or have owned, just about every handgun caliber there is. I reload for everything from the .38 Special up to the .44 Mag. and .45 Colt, and just about everything in between. If you look at most of the different cartridges, there is not much difference in any of them. Size of the bullet is about the only difference. I grant you, even though a .38 and a .357 take the same bullet, there is a world of difference in the two calibers. However, if a person can shoot a .38 well, and a .357 not at all, then that person is much better off with the .38. Too many "experts" think the .38 or the 9mm is not enough gun. I say a hit with a .38, or a .22 for that matter, is much better than a miss with a .45!
