Menzieshill emerged with a 6-3 victory - the result of sheer hard work - in a pulsating match against Aberdeen Asset Management at Bells' Sports Centre in Perth yesterday.

They then waltzed to a more relaxed 9-1 victory over MIM Edinburgh, a result which helped them retain their 100% league record and their solo spot at the top of the indoor league.

It was a team effort against AAM. Honours even 2-2 at half-time, a crucial double strike by Chris Anderson and Ross McPherson put the Taysiders ahead, a penalty corner conversion by Kerr Thomson five minutes from time effectively sealing the game.

Against MIM, two goals each from McPherson, David Knipe and the inevitable Kenny Stibbles were the mainstay of the Menzieshill triumph.

The match of the day, however, was between Aberdeen and a depleted Grange, who had already shaded MIM Edinburgh 8-7.

Stuart McMorrow and Ritchie Forsyth gave Grange a 4-2 cushion after half time, although Calum Wood pulled one back for the northerners.

A Gordon Menzies strike with four minutes remaining should have ended the match there and then, but Wood netted brilliantly from two penalty corners to snatch a dramatic 5-5 draw.

The day was ended with another wonderfully action-packed game, Dundee Wanderers beating Western 9-6 after being 5-2 down at one point.

Hat-tricks from Paul Dailly and Niall Stott were the key to the Wanderers' success.
