Your Letters: SHOULD IT BE TORY BLAIR?
Peter FrancisTONY Blair told us his Government would be free from the sleaze that tainted the Tories. Several years later, following the Mandelson, Robinson and Vaz investigations, we have reason to doubt his veracity.
It now looks as though the creation of a Standards and Privileges Committee is another exercise in New Labour spin.
When Elizabeth Filkin's investigations started to get too close to home, MPs and Cabinet Ministers closed ranks. New Labour has frittered away millions on the Dome, failed to provide us with a 21st Century transport system and allowed the NHS to deteriorate into a third world health service. Now it looks as though politicians want us to accept sleaze as well as their bungling incompetence.
