music Kimmo Pohjonen The Arches, Glasgow; One man off his box
Laura PalmerFORGET chunky Fred Durst from Limp Bizkit and his porcine- slamming schtick; if you want real punk, real rock'n'roll, real energy then look no further than Finland's finest squeezebox performer Kimmo Pohjonen. Commanding the stage with an imposing presence and a creaky old accordion almost as big as he is, Pohjonen comes over like - stay with me here - Jimmy Shand on a really bad acid trip; weaving creepy, repetitive ostinatos with a handful of effects pedals and the occasional thump of his trusty instrument. The wheezing, hypnotic and spine-shivering result makes for an eerily enjoyable night. But there's no ceilidh dancing, though.
