VIEWERS TURNED OFF BY 'ANTI-IRISH' COMIC

PAUL DAVIS

GENERATION Game presenter Jim Davidson is being accused of racism against the Irish - again.

The BBC and the Independent Television Commission have been swamped with complaints from viewers - mostly Irish - who thought Davidson's show last Friday, On the Edge, was way over the top.

A BBC insider said: "Jim's been told in the past not to mock the Irish or the Welsh but he just can't help himself.

"No doubt he will get another letter telling him of the offence he's caused to the Irish, but will he listen?"+

Viewer Michael Sloan, from Middlesex, said: "Watching his show was confirmation that anti-Irish prejudice, dressed up as family entertainment, is still with us."

"His political tirade was like a right-wing rally."

Another complainant added: "He still sees his ex-wife, who is Irish. I wonder what she makes of him making racist remarks about."

The BBC had not replied to Irish Sunday Mirror questions by last night.
